Well, I’ve always enjoyed art. I had an artistic eye, artistic ability. And I’ve also been good at science, and I feel like dentistry is just a really good blend of both of those skill sets. To really make somebody’s teeth look natural and nice, there’s really quite an artistic touch to it. And then, of course, understanding the human body and how it responds to different treatments and everything like that is very scientific. So I feel like it’s just a good blend of the things that I kind of was naturally inclined towards. The thing I love about dentistry is the ability to change people’s lives. We get to do that every day. People come in with pain and we’re able to resolve their pain. People come in without the ability to chew or function properly, and we’re able to restore their mouths to proper chewing function and give them that opportunity to be healthy again. And then some people just aren’t comfortable with their smile, and you’d be surprised how many people tell me, “I don’t ever smile because I’m embarrassed of the way my teeth look.” And to be able to shape people’s smile to where they’re confident to smile again is really life-changing for them from an emotional and a psychological standpoint. So, it’s really nice to be able to change people’s lives every day. There are a couple of aspects when you’re looking for a good dentist, and one, definitely, is a skill set. There’s a certain skill set that’s required to make sure that your dentistry is going to be good and it’s going to last. And with all the advanced training that I’ve had, I feel like that makes me highly capable of delivering excellent dental care. And the other side of it is just a personality that allows patients to relate to dentists. I feel like that’s important when looking for a dentist because you need to kind of be on the same page. You’re a team together working towards treatment goals. And so, I think it’s really good to be able to understand where patients are coming from and not be so strict in what I want, but rather listening to the patient goals and kind of be able to derive some treatment plans that fit their needs best.
