If you’ve ever marveled at those brilliant and flawless Hollywood smiles, chances are that you were looking at dental veneers. Not everyone needs that kind of smile, but almost everyone wishes that their teeth were whiter and more regular. Dental veneers can accomplish that for you – give you a smile that you can display with complete confidence.
About Dental Veneers
Dental veneers are very thin shells of tooth-colored material. The exact shade of your veneers will be determined by Dr. Burch and you. The shells are bonded to the fronts of your visible teeth and will instantly cover smile problems such as stains, chips, cracks, and even smaller gaps between teeth.
Veneers can be made from a number of materials. At Copperfield Dentistry in Houston, TX, Dr. Burch typically uses veneers made from e.max lithium disilicate material. These veneers are very durable and have the added advantage of being very thin. It’s important that veneers appear as lifelike as possible; with thinner dental veneers, less enamel has to be removed to keep everything looking just like it should.
The Veneer Process
The veneer process begins with scheduling a consultation with Dr. Burch at our Houston, TX dental office. You and he will discuss your smile goals and whether veneer or something else will best help you achieve those goals. One thing to bear in mind is that for almost everyone, it’s vital that your smile looks completely natural.
If you and Dr. Burch agree on veneers, he’ll complete a preliminary wax-up. That allows you to see how your teeth will look after veneers are applied. Once you’re happy with your new smile, he’ll likely remove a small amount of enamel from the fronts of your teeth. This process is completely painless; however, if you have any concerns, you can certainly ask for a numbing injection before anything happens.
Once the enamel has been removed, Dr. Burch will use a digital scanner to take impressions of your teeth. Those impressions will guide our partner dental laboratory in creating your new, completely custom dental veneers.
You’ll return to our office to have your new veneers bonded into place and to make any final adjustments. Your be thrilled with your new, flawless smile! And no one will know that you’ve had cosmetic dentistry performed. They’ll just marvel at how good you look.
The entire process typically takes three to four visits.
It’s Not A Vanity Thing
Everyone wants to look and feel their best, and dental veneers can give you a boost in self-esteem and confidence. But there are other reasons to have the best smile possible. Studies show that people who smile often and freely are viewed as more trustworthy. Having a great smile can help you succeed occupationally and socially.
In fact, more and more men are opting to take advantage of the benefits of a great smile.
Dental veneers also help protect teeth against further damage which makes them a good investment in your oral health.
